Girl's Weekend!

Well, Kaleb survived his first girl's weekend...We went to Knoxville to spend MLK weekend with Ulla and the girls. Kaleb is a ladies man b/c he was all smiles with everyone and even "squeeled in delight" for the first time. He did, however, escape for a night with his dad and got to play with his cousin nylah again. Well, Kaleb is getting bigger as we speak and is just doing more of his same stuff. His head control is getting better, he is grabbing toys more often, his fists are constantly in his mouth and he likes to blow spit bubbles. He is sleeping pretty well, 10 hours at night with one meal at about 6 hours. We haven't developed a night time routine yet, but i see that in our future soon!

Happy New Year's!!

I know I look like Brittany Spears in this picture, but I swear, it was nothing like that!!

Happy New Year everyone! We spent the New Year with Jason's family and as you can see, it was quite a happening party! We all stayed up and watched the ball drop. We exchanged gifts with Jason's family while we were there. Kaleb enjoyed meeting his great aunt and uncle for the first time. He now weights more than all his grandmother's chihauhaus.

We went to the doctor for his 2 month check up on Jan. 3rd. He weighs 13lbs and 7 oz (which is the 90th %tile in his age group) and was 23 inches long (50%). He got his shots and I cried along with him. He slept most of that day except once to scream until I was able to give him more tylenol. I can't believe it, but I only have 3 more weeks of maternity leave. It has gone by so fast! He is changing every day. He is grabbing his toys, sucking his full fists and cooing. He found himself in the mirror the other day and gave himself a huge smile...such a handsome devil!
Christmas

OK, so I haven't figured out how to post the pictures appropriately yet, but hopefully you can follow. Well, we went to Virginia to my (Amy's) parents house for Christmas. Kaleb was an angel in the car on the 12 hour trip. It only took 2 hours longer than normal due to stopping to feed him a few times.
The first picture is of my sister Christie holding Kaleb in the outfit she got him from Peru this year. She climbed
mont yupichu in the rain in misery, but the trip deemed succesful with an adorable outfit for her soon to be nephew. The second picture is on Christmas morning in which Kaleb slept completely thru (he must have been tired from delivering presents the night before). The third picture is of all the guys who were forced into Christmas cheer while decorating the tree before Christmas. It was great to hang out with family and see Carrie and Lindsay, my high school friends and their growing families. We stayed a week and then headed for Knoxville for New Years. As you can see, I don't have too much to say on my blog. For now, its just an excuse to show off pictures of Kaleb.

Around the house

We have had fun dressing up Kaleb. We decorated his room in a jungle theme so he has a lot of monkeys, giraffes and tigers to play with. He also has fun hanging out with his Dad and watching football. He is already a VOLS fan...hey, he came out with orange hair didnt he!
Mom has very surprisingly loved being at home with Kaleb. I thought I would get bored, but I can stare at him all day long and be perfectly happy. I have also been surprised at how little I get done during the day. The times he's sleeping i'm taking a shower or eating lunch..one day I noticed that it was 5pm and I hadnt brushed my teeth yet...Recently he has started smiling and I just love it. I understand why people dont want to go back to work after maternity leave b/c they (babies) are constantly reaching new milestones and I just dont want to miss any of them. I am still planing on working part time though.
Well, Kaleb is now around 12.6 pounds at 7 weeks. He is a very good baby and is very laid back. He only cries if he's hungry or tired and then we quickly try to help him. He likes his play mat and it keeps him busy for hours at a time. He has been consistantly going 6-7 hours between meals at night so i'm starting to get some good sleep. He does however like to be awake between 10 and 12 midnight and likes to play then. So I have adjusted my schedule too, for now. We have been very blessed to have our friends make us dinner and I have only cooked about 3 meals so far. I know that i will need to start soon and my routine is becoming easier and more organized.
Thanksgiving

We went to Knoxville for Thanksgiving. We were a little nervous on how Kaleb would do on a road trip but he did a great job and slept the whole way there. He got to hang out with his cousin Nylah who is two months older. She was ready to play but all Kaleb wanted to do was sleep. I'm sure he'll figure out how cool it is to have a cousin so close in age at some point.
HOME AT LAST

The first few weeks at home Kaleb and I tried to develop a schedule. He learned to hold his paci himself. He also made a best friend that we call "doo doo dog" because it entertains him while we change his diaper. In the hospital he screamed every time we changed his diaper due to a bad diaper rash and the circumcision. GiGi and grandad spent the first week at home with us helping with Kaleb and fixing us awesome meals.
